LA Galaxy make roster moves on deadline day; continue to chase Pavon

The LA Galaxy remain busy on Deadline Day.

In the closing day of the Secondary Transfer Window, the LA Galaxy are still pursuing Argentine forward Cristian Pavón.

They have made several roster moves in hopes of making the signing happen, including sending midfielder Emmanuel Boateng to D.C. United in exchange for Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). The LA Galaxy also exchanged $200k of General Allocation Money (GAM) for $136,220 of TAM with Orlando City SC.

Pavón was seen at LA Galaxy training Wednesday morning, but the deal has not yet been finalized between the two parties.

Rumors have been circling for months about Pavón joining the Galaxy and reuniting with Galaxy head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who coached Pavón at Boca Juniors.

Boateng joined the LA Galaxy in 2016 and scored nine goals and 13 assists in his 168 appearances with the club. In his time with the Galaxy, he became a fan favorite for the extra boost he was able to provide coming off the bench.

Negotiations to secure Pavón as an LA Galaxy player are expected to be finalized Wednesday, but it is not guaranteed. The Galaxy still need to secure an international spot for him, as they are currently using all ten of their international slots on current players, and also may not have enough TAM to fit Pavón’s salary within the roster guidelines.
