CINCINNATI — It was an uneventful night in the Queen City, as FC Cincinnati and the Chicago Fire both failed to score in a 0-0 draw at Nippert Stadium on Saturday night.
Both sides registered just 26 combined shots, with only five landing on target. The Fire held a 9-2 advantage on corners, but they were unable to turn that into goals.
The result dents Chicago’s hopes of qualifying for the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs, as the Fire (9-12-11, 38 points) remain three points behind New England Revolution for the seventh and final playoff spot. The Revs also have a match in hand.
Meanwhile, while FC Cincinnati (6-22-4, 22 points) remain bottom of the Eastern Conference, they can take solace in knowing they picked up four points in their last two matches.
This recap will be updated throughout the evening.
