Orlando Pride will not retain rights to Chloe Logarzo due to NWSL discrepancy

The Australian midfielder should not have been allowed to enter the waiver wire due to her loan status from Sydney FC.

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Pride will not gain the rights to Australian midfielder Chloe Logarzo due to a discrepancy in the waiver wire process, according to a club official.

The team acquired Logarzo on Nov. 5 when her former club, the Washington Spirit, placed her on the waiver wire. However, Logarzo is on loan from Sydney FC and therefore should not have been allowed into the re-entry wire in the first place, according to league rules.

Logarzo was still allowed to go through the process, however, and the league did not correct the problem before the Pride selected her. The club was informed of the error on Tuesday, a week after Logarzo was initially selected. At this time, the league has not offered compensation to the Pride.
