Two weeks after Atlanta United traded for Brooks Lennon, the club inked the defender to a long-term deal.
On Tuesday, the Five Stripes announced a multi-year contract for the 22-year-old, who will be at the club until 2023.
“Brooks is a versatile young player and we are pleased to add him to our club,” Atlanta United vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said when the trade occurred. “In addition to his vast experience on the international level with U.S. youth national teams, he has proven to be a reliable starter in MLS. He can play both fullback and wing positions and we expect him to have an integral role in our long-term plans.”
Lennon was traded by Real Salt Lake to the 2019 U.S. Open Cup winner in exchange for $150,000 in General Allocation Money and $150,000 in Targeted Allocation Money on December 2.
Since entering MLS in 2017 with the Claret-and-Cobalt, Lennon has made 86 appearances and racked up 10 assists.
