LAFC hopes to end winless streak, faces RSL at home

Los Angeles Football Club, hoping to break a five match winless streak, will host Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night at 10:30pm E.T. at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Here is what you need to know before Wednesday’s matchup:

  • LAFC’s record is 10-7-6 this season, and 5-1-5 at home, sitting in 5th place in the Western Conference with 36 points in 23 matches. They suffered their first home loss on Saturday after being shutout 2-0 by Sporting Kansas City.
  • Real Salt Lake are 10-9-5 overall this season and 1-8-2 on the road. Their lone road win came with a 1-0 win on May 26 against the Seattle Sounders. RSL sit just one point behind LAFC in the standings at 6th place, with 35 points from 23 games.
  • LAFC are in the midst of a five game winless streak, with their last win coming on July 7 at home against Orlando City SC.
  • These two sides have met once before this season: on March 10, LAFC defeated RSL 5-1 with goals from Rossi (30, 81), Blessing (33), Feilhaber (47) and Vela (86).
  • Defender Walker Zimmerman is one yellow card away from suspension due to yellow card accumulation. Both Lee Nguyen and Eduard Atuesta are two cards away from suspension.
  • Forward Adama Diomande has returned to training after sustaining a hamstring injury earlier this month.
  • This match is LAFC’s fourth in fifteen days, including a U.S. Open Cup Semifinal loss on Aug. 8th that went to overtime and eight rounds of penalties.
  • After this match, LAFC will face Colorado Rapids at home on Sunday Aug. 11 at 10pm E.T.
