LOS ANGELES — Throughout its short-lived life as a club, LAFC has emphasized a downtown-first approach towards its fanbase, hoping to connect with an area of the city overlooked by the LA Galaxy from the beginning. This week was no different as the club rolled out several new efforts to connect to downtown Los Angeles — an event in a dollar store, a partnership with metro transit and the opening of ticket sales for a new music festival.
No. 99 visits 99 Cents Only
Playing off of the star’s jersey number, striker Adama Diomande hosted a meet-and-greet event at the 99 Cents Only store in Montebello on Sunday. For 99 minutes, Diomande met with fans to take pictures and sign merchandise as part of the chain’s nationwide “99 Day” celebration.

Almost all of the fans present for the store-wide event were decked out in black and gold attire, and the group sang one of the supporters’ chants to welcome him to the event. Although meet and greets are common for most sports teams, LAFC has made a point of hosting them at reachable, affordable community centers, whether that be Pink’s Hot Dogs or the local 99 Cent store.
New partnership with Metropolitan Transit Authority
The club announced Wednesday that the Metro will release a branded LAFC TAP card to support fans who use public transit to commute to games. The black-and-gold card will be made available for the first time at Saturday’s games, when fans will receive a card preloaded with a Day Pass credit.

The card will be released for sale on Tuesday, Sept. 18, and it will continue to reward fans who use it, providing deals such as 10 percent off all LAFC hats at the stadium store. The Metro will also release commercials that feature Latif Blessing as part of its continued partnership with the club.
Ticket sales go live for Rolling Loud LA
The founding owners of LAFC promised when first constructed, Banc of California stadium would offer much more than just soccer. The stadium is following through by hosting Rolling Loud LA, an offshoot of the Bay Area music festival, which will take over the LAFC home turf Dec. 14 and 15.
Although the lineup has yet to be announced, tickets went on sale Wednesday. Prices start at $169 for both days, with payment plans offered that begin with a $35 deposit. The festival will be the largest non-athletic event hosted in the stadium’s young history.
