Tyler Adams, Christian Pulisic withdraw from USMNT due to injury, Fafa Picault added to roster

Injuries have forced New York Red Bulls midfielder Tyler Adams and winger Christian Pulisic of Borussia Dortmund to withdraw from the U.S. men’s national team roster for upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Peru, U.S. Soccer announced on Friday.

Adams, who was not in the game-day 18-man roster for the Red Bulls’ 2-0 win over Atlanta United on Sunday, is suffering from back spasms, while Pulisic has been sidelined with a torn calf muscle.

Adams has been a regular for the USMNT since making his debut last November against Portugal. The 19-year-old has made seven appearances and scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Mexico in Nashville on Sept. 11.

Pulisic has scored nine goals in 21 international appearances and also missed last month’s matches against Brazil and Mexico due to injury.

Philadelphia Union winger Fafa Picault is the lone injury replacement for a 23-man roster that is scheduled to meet in Tampa this weekend. The 27-year-old has one cap for the USMNT, coming off the bench to score on his debut in a 3-1 win over Puerto Rico in Bayamon on May 22, 2016.

The United States will host Colombia at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Oct. 11 before meeting Peru at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. on Oct. 16. They are the final two home matches of U.S. Soccer’s Fall Kickoff Series, before the team faces England and Italy in Europe next month.
