CINCINNATI — It was another difficult night at the office for FC Cincinnati as the LA Galaxy took a 2-0 victory at the University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium Saturday night.
It would take just two first-half strikes in three minutes for the Galaxy (10-6-1, 28 points) to seal all three points and maintain their grip on second place in the Western Conference. The loss for Cincinnati (3-12-2, 11 points), meanwhile, sees them maintain their spot on the bottom of the East’s table with the worst record in the league.
Despite the abysmal record of the home side, a sellout crowd of 32,250 fans packed the stands at Nippert, many hoping to see a standout performance from star striker Zlatan Ibrahimović. But it was Emmanuel Boateng who stole the show early on for the visitors with a well-taken effort in the 12th minute. Just three minutes later, Favio Álvarez doubled LA’s lead.
