Portland Timbers linked to Honduran striker Darixon Vuelto

The Portland Timbers could be on the verge of acquiring Honduran striker Darixon Vuelto, according to multiplereports out of Honduras.

The new reports come a few weeks after the Timbers were initially linked to Vuelto.

Vuelto has most recently competed for Honduran side Real Espana where he scored 10 goals in 28 appearances. The 20-year-old has alsobeen a mainstay in the Honduras youth national team program.

While the Timbers have already added significant attacking depth in the last few months, Timbers owner Merritt Paulson indicated on Twitter that the club still planned to add a young, speedy attacker before the end of the offseason. Vuelto fits that bill.

Still, Vuelto has been linked to multiple MLS teams this offseason. MLSsoccer.com reported Saturday that the Houston Dynamo were targeting Vuelto, but did not hold his discovery rights.
