Orlando City once again pulled off a late game-winner for three points on the road against the Colorado Rapids. The Lions (5-2-1, 16 points) now have won five consecutive matches and are ranked third in the Eastern Conference, behind No. 1 Atlanta United FC and No. 2 NYCFC.
Sunday afternoon, the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory came in the 77th minute, when midfielder Yoshimar Yotún converted a penalty kick. Yotún drew the penalty moments earlier when he chased after a forward pass from teammate Justin Meram and was clipped from behind by Colorado’s Dillon Serna. The lead Yotún earned was put in danger during stoppage time, but Mohamed El-Munir saved the day by thwarting a Rapids breakaway.
