Grégory Sertic, currently a centerback for Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille, was in Hialeah Wednesday night for Orlando City’s 3-0 victory over Miami United in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.
Sertic was hanging out with Orlando City centerback Lamine Sané. The two played for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 around the same time.
Sertic has been active on Instagram lately, posting pictures with Sané and Orlando City striker Dom Dwyer. Sané gave Sertic two Orlando City jerseys — both of them were No. 22 jerseys.
Sané was one of a few Orlando City players who watched the club’s victory from the stands at Ted Hendricks Stadium Wednesday night. He’s recovering from a knee injury, but the entire team traveled to Hialeah for the match. Players who weren’t in the 18 for the match watched from the stands.
Of course, Sertic has been linked to Orlando City in the past. After the 2016 season, he came close to finalizing a deal with the Lions.
Sertic made seven appearances and started three matches this season for Marseille.
Round of 16 match set
Orlando City continues its U.S. Open Cup run with a match against D.C. United. The Lions did not apply to host the round of 16 — or the quarterfinals, for that matter — so they’ll travel to D.C. United for the match.
The Lions played D.C. United to a 1-1 draw in league play to start the season.
The match will be at 7 p.m. on June 20 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md.
