A “Throwback Thursday” social media post from New England Revolution midfielder Kelyn Rowe roughly five hours after the close of Major League Soccer’s secondary transfer window led many to speculate whether the player had been traded.
He has not. Rowe is still a Revolution player, a spokesman for the club told Pro Soccer USA Thursday morning.

Many fans spent most of Wednesday’s deadline day speculating on possible transfers across the league. Among the prognostications was the Revolution sending Rowe to Seattle Sounders FC.

Rowe, who is from Federal Way, Wash., has been a soft target of his hometown Sounders for the last two years. Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey hasn’t directly confirmed the club’s interest, but is on record lamenting that negotiating with New England on transfers can be challenging.

New England drafted Rowe with the third overall pick in the 2012 Superdraft. He has recorded 28 goals and 40 assists in 196 appearances for the Revolution. His biggest breakout came during last summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, in which he scored his first international goal for the U.S. national team in a 3-0 victory over Nicaragua.
Rowe has the remainder of the 2018 season, plus a club option year remaining on his MLS contract.
Earlier this year, two Israeli teams made an inquiry to the Revolution about Rowe but paused due to the team option remaining on his contract.
