LA Galaxy begins three-game week by hosting Minnesota United FC Saturday

LOS ANGELES — The LA Galaxy have another three-game week, and it starts with Saturday’s match at home against Minnesota United FC at 10:30 p.m. ET at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

Here’s what you need to know ahead of the matchup:

  • The Galaxy have a 10-8-5 record and are 6-4-1 at home so far this season. Their last match was a 2-1 loss in Colorado, ending their nine-game unbeaten streak. LA sits in fifth place in the Western Conference with 35 points in 23 games.
  • Minnesota United FC is 9-13-1 and is ninth in the West with 28 points in 23 games. The Loons’ last match was a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders at home. They are 1-9-0 on the road.
  • This will be Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first match back with the Galaxy since their 4-3 win over Orlando July 29. He returns after serving a one-match suspension for choosing to miss the MLS All-Star game. Heading into this match, Zlatan is only two goals away from scoring 500 career goals.
  • Giovani Dos Santos should see the field, most likely as a sub, after coming off in the second half of the team’s July 29 match due to muscle “tightness.” Head coach Sigi Schmid told reporters this week Gio has practiced with the team all week and should be ready for the game.
  • For yellow card accumulation warnings, Michael Ciani is suspended after one more card and Ashley Cole and Jorgen Skjelvik are suspended after two.
  • Minnesota United’s Darwin Quintero is tied for seventh in the league for goals this season with 10. One of Minnesota’s other biggest threats, Christian Ramirez, was recently traded to LAFC in exchange for up to $1 million in allocation money.
  • After this match, the Galaxy will play next at home Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. ET against the Colorado Rapids.
