Watch: Dawdling duck delays LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake match

Play stopped in the 33rd minute of Real Salt Lake’s home match Saturday against the LA Galaxy. There was no injury or video review. There was a duck. 

The dawdling bird waddled onto the field at Rio Tinto Stadium, where it successfully evaded at least four security officers.

The duck ran toward the corner of the pitch, where RSL’s Albert Rusnak waited to take a corner kick with the Western Conference game with playoff implications tied 1-1. Rusnak chased the animal off the pitch. 

RSL called the unexpected visitor its “good luck duck” on Twitter shortly after the encounter, and the club later took a 6-2 lead over the Galaxy. Rusnak scored one of those later goals in the 68th minute. He also scored in the 14th minute and assisted a 61st-minute goal by Damir Kreilach.
