Canada finished out group play Thursday night with a 3-1 win over Costa Rica to sweep Group B and advance to Sunday’s Concacaf Women’s Championship semifinals.
Janine Beckie scored first in the 25th minute, followed by 40th-minute Nichelle Prince goal to enter halftime up 2-0. Christine Sinclair then scored in the 57th minute to make it a 3-0 lead for the Canadians. But Gloriana Villalobos prevented a shutout by getting Costa Rica on the scoreboard in the 73rd.
Canada will play Group A No. 2 Panama in the semifinals. Jamaica, which finished second in Group B, will play Group A leader the United States. Watch full highlights from Thursday’s match above.
