The histrionics of Friday night’s rain delay and high-scoring clash with Houston headlined the weekend for LAFC, but the team has been busy on and off the field in the wake of the team’s latest game. With only two regular season matches to look forward to, the team’s season is continuing to stand out with celebrity appearances and MLS awards.
Five LAFC players make MLS Team of the Week
After a flashy offensive show in the rain from LAFC on Friday, five players were selected for the league’s Team of the Week distinctions. Carlos Vela returned to earn the honor once again, while Danilo Silva earned his first weekly honor. Walker Zimmerman and Adama Diomande both earned bench positions, along with head coach Bob Bradley.

Kaye announces full recovery
For weeks, the loss of Mark-Anthony Kaye has been deeply felt in the midfield. Kaye suffered a broken ankle in August, and the news called for an end to his season with LAFC.
Although Kaye’s recovery is still expected to outlast the postseason, he posted positive news of his recovery on Saturday — a full heal of the broken bone, and an all-clear from his doctors to begin training to rejoin his team on the pitch. LAFC fans will look forward to seeing him back in a uniform come next season.

Celebrities continue to stud weekend game nights
Owner Will Ferrell was back in the building and leading the North End for Friday night’s rain-filled thriller, but he wasn’t the only celebrity to grace the field for the Black and Gold. Sophia Bush — a renowned actress, model and activist — was the guest falconer of the night, holding Olly before his traditional flight across the stadium to kick off the night.

Bush was joined by the __, the Thai boys’ soccer team that was trapped in a cave and rescued earlier this summer. The team posed in the North End and joined the 3252 for the game as part of its tour of MLS and other professional stadiums by Ellen Degeneres after its traumatic experience.
How cool is this??
