Vancouver Whitecaps, Real Salt Lake to play in the 2019 Pacific Rim Cup

For the second consecutive preseason, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will participate in the second annual Pacific Rim Cup at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The club will take part in the 2019 tournament alongside fellow Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake, V-Varen Nagasaki (Japan Professional Football League) and Iwaki FC (Japan’s Society Soccer League).

The Whitecaps finished second in last year’s inaugural Pacific Rim Cup, held in February in Honolulu. It was the first time in six years that clubs from the Japan Professional Football League (J. League) and MLS played one another on that island. The other participating teams in 2018 were MLS’ Columbus Crew SC, Iwaki FC and the J. League’s Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, which took home the title.

Aloha Stadium will be the site for all four Pacific Rim Cup matches. Located in central Oahu, the stadium is Hawaii’s largest outdoor arena, home to the University of Hawaii football team.
