Orlando Pride assistant Khano Smith joins USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC

Orlando Pride assistant Khano Smith is now the assistant coach for USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC.

Legion FC, which is based in Birmingham, Alabama, announced Smith’s hiring on Tuesday. Smith, 36, will work with Legion FC coach Tom Soehn.

“I’m excited to have Khno on board,” Soehn said in a statement. “He has a wealth of playing and coaching experience that I believe will translate well with our roster. I’m excited for Khano to arrive in Birmingham and for us to get to work.”

Smith, who made 33 appearances for the Bermuda national team as a player, was an assistant coach with the Orlando Pride for the last two seasons. He worked under former head coach Tom Sermanni, who parted ways with the Pride after a disappointing 2018 season.

Legion FC will take the field for its inaugural season in 2019.
