Orlando City B’s roster will be released soon, and the USL League One (formerly USL D3) club has secured three players on loan from Brazilian side Atlético Paranaense, which has an existing partnership with Orlando City SC.
A club source confirmed to Pro Soccer USA that OCB’s roster will include 26 players, with seven from Orlando City’s development academy. The average age of the roster will be 19 and a half years old, with eight players from various national teams. The oldest player on the roster will be 23 and the youngest player will be 15.
The roster statistics fit with OCB’s mission of developing talent for Orlando City’s first team. OCB GM Mike Potempa recently took a 10-day trip to Brazil to scout players alongside coach Fernando Jose De Argila Irurita.
The source confirmed two Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy (SIMA) players have been signed. One is Rafael Santos, who was drafted by DC United last year, and Matheus Silva, who was originally signed by the San Jose Earthquakes at 18 years old and most recently played for Swope Park Rangers.
OCB’s roster was set in late December, according to the source. The club already announced the signing of development academy products Jordan Bender, 17, and Luc Granitur, 15.
