ORLANDO, Fla. — A scoreless game got interesting in the 80th minute, when Gyasi Zardes took a hard shot from a distance and the ball skyrocketed into the air off the foot of Ecuador’s Robert Arboleda. The ball’s flight path was a high arc toward Ecuador’s goal, skimming the crossbar on its descent before dropping behind goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez for a 1-0 United States lead. Watch a replay of the goal below.
The score of the international friendly Thursday night at Orlando City Stadium remained the same at the time of this post in the 85th minute — right as an Ecuador fan was being hauled off the pitch by police after he stalled play by jumping a wall and racing up the center of the field.
