The most significant parts of the Philadelphia Union’s player salaries are the high price paid for midfielder Marco Fabian and large raise center back Jack Elliott received in his contract extension.
Fabian, who was acquired from Eintracht Frankfurt before the start of the Major League Soccer season, has a base salary of $2,000,727, according to the list released by the MLS Players Union on Wednesday.
Fabian, who has played 442 minutes over eight games, is only one of two Union players being paid over a million dollars. Captain Alejandro Bedoya is the other.
Elliott, whose contract extension was announced in May, is now making $250,000, which is a large upgrade from the just under $60,000 he was making on his rookie contract.
Homegrown midfielder Brenden Aaronson is on a base salary of $67,500 in his first season, while Auston Trusty is the highest-paid player of the Union’s Homegrowns at $124,100 guaranteed compensation.
