The LA Galaxy are headed to face the reigning MLS Cup champions Atlanta United on Saturday at 5 p.m. E.T. at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Here’s what you need to know heading into the match:
- In their two previous meetings, Atlanta has come out ahead: 2-0 in their April 2018 matchup in Los Angeles and 4-0 in their September 2017 matchup in Atlanta in United’s inaugural season.
- The Galaxy will be traveling without three starting players this week, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended due to yellow card accumulation and both Efrain Alvarez and Diego Polenta will be missing the game after being shown red cards in their last match. The Galaxy will have to look to other players to find their goals, as Ibrahimovic has scored 16 of the team’s 30 goals so far this season.
- Both teams are looking to rebound after losses in Week 20 play. The Galaxy fell 4-0 to the Portland Timbers, despite having close to an ideal starting line up. Atlanta United lost 4-3 to LAFC in a whirlwind game with five goals in the last ten minutes of the first half.
- The officials for this match are Drew Fischer (center), Jeremy Hanson (AR1), Philippe Briere (AR2), Kevin Broadley (4th) and Jose Carlos Rivero (VAR).
