CINCINNATI — A first-half goal from Costa Rican midfielder Allan Cruz was canceled out by a 90th-minute equalizer from substitute Benji Michel, sealing FC Cincinnati‘s 1-1 draw with Orlando City on Sunday evening at Nippert Stadium.
Cruz’s seventh goal of the season came in the 40th minute and capped an impressive movement down the Cincinnati left flank. But it was all undone in the final moments of the match when Orlando’s Michel capitalized on a failed FC Cincinnati clearance to pull the visitors level.
The draw sees FC Cincinnati (6-22-5, 23 points) close out its home campaign with just its fourth draw of the season. Meanwhile, the result means Orlando (9-14-10, 37 points) extend its winless run to seven matches. It also ends the Lions’ scant chance of playoff qualification, as they now sit eight points behind seventh-place New England Revolution.
