The United States men’s national team dropped two spots and into 23rd place in the latest FIFA World Rankings, released Thursday.
The U.S. is still the second-ranked Concacaf nation – 12 spots behind 11th-ranked Mexico – but the slip is due in large part to their 2-0 loss to Canada in an Oct. 15 Concacaf Nations League game.
Canada is now ranked 69th in the world after previously being ranked 75th, which represents the biggest upward move of any nation inside the top 100.
Jamaica leapfrogged Costa Rica and is 45th in the world, making the Reggae Boyz Concacaf’s third-highest ranking team.
Other big movers in Concacaf include Nicaragua (up 11 spots to 137) and Barbados (up 10 spots to 160). Suriname and Dominica lost the most ground, down eight spots to 150 and seven spots to 187, respectively.
The ranking of the world’s top four teams – Belgium, France, Brazil, and England – didn’t change since the Sept. 19, 2019 world rankings.
The U.S. hosts Canada for another Nations League match, at Exploria Stadium in Orlando on Nov. 15. Four days later, the USMNT will play Cuba at Georgetown, Cayman Islands.
