The Seattle Sounders briefly quieted the crowd at Banc of California Stadium when they scored two goals in five minutes midway through the first half of Tuesday’s Western Conference final. The first goal from Raúl Ruidíaz in the 22nd minute brought the Sounders even with Los Angeles FC 1-1. The second goal, a 26th-minute strike from Nicolás Lodeiro, gave the visitors a 2-1 lead over their Supporters’ Shield-winning host.
Ruidíaz then struck again off an assist from Lodeiro in minute 64, effectively ending LAFC’s record-breaking season. Eduard Atuesta opened the scoring for LAFC in the 17th minute with a free kick from just outside the box. See replays of all the goals below. A full recap and highlights can be found here after the match.
“We did a really poor job of finding the spaces,” LAFC coach Bob Bradley said during a halftime interview with ESPN. “We’ve got to move the ball quicker. They’ve done a really good job of clogging the middle, and we just haven’t moved the ball fast enough.”
