MLS, NWSL and more celebrate holidays on social media

Julian Gressel, Kristen Hamilton, Minnesota United and others celebrated the holidays on social media.

While some won’t leave their homes or change out of their pajamas on Christmas, the social media teams behind your favorite American soccer clubs were hard at work, doing their best to bring joy to Twitter and Instagram timelines. And many players posted holly-jolly photos and videos, too.

Santa couldn’t bring fans actual MLS, NWSL or USL games on Christmas, but these might be the next best thing.

The Philadelphia Union gave us the next great Christmas carol. “Red Bulls roasting on an open fire” is catchy, right?

The Whitecaps have a new jingle, too.

The USL Championship perfectly displayed the reaction we all have when the cookies are pulled out of the oven.

Who put that Christmas tree on Audi Field? Santa hats have to violate some sort of MLS uniform code, right?

Speaking of trees, the best ones are made out of flamingos.

The perfect stocking-stuffer.

Not quite the Saint Nick you expected to come down the chimney.

That feeling when it’s time to open presents but you haven’t had your coffee yet.

The World Cup champs did some caroling recently.

And on Christmas Eve, while some of us were sipping hot cocoa and arguing about if “Die Hard” is or isn’t a Christmas movie, Carli Lloyd, Julie Ertz and others were training.

The Gressels celebrated Christmas in Germany. More importantly, they did so with their incredibly cute and fluffy dog.

NWSL champs Lynn Williams and Kristen Hamilton took a break from their season in Australia’s W-League to celebrate the holidays in style.

And the recently retired Heather O’Reilly made a special announcement.
