ORLANDO, Fla. — Christen Press opened the scoring for the U.S. women’s national team with a magnificent goal.
In the 53rd minute, Press found herself in some space and unleashed a 25-yard curling effort into the right corner past a diving Carly Tedford, England’s goalkeeper.
The goal gave the U.S. a 1-0 lead in the squad’s opener of the SheBelieves Cup at Exploria Stadium on Thursday night.
Press threw her hands into the sky in celebration after the ball hit the back of the net. The goal sent the crowd and her teammates into a frenzy.
