U.S. women’s national team star Alex Morgan and her husband, Servando Carrasco, welcomed their first child on Thursday. The couple named their daughter Charlie Elena Carrasco.
A two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medal winner for the U.S., Morgan served as one of the team captains for the Orlando Pride over the past two years.
At 1130am on May 7 weighing 8lbs5oz, Charlie Elena Carrasco made her grand entrance into the world. She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby. pic.twitter.com/dDbIXW6INr

Morgan has worked out throughout her pregnancy, initially vowing to return to full strength in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before the Games were postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. She trained with her U.S. teammates in California in February while she was in her third trimester, and continued working out in the weeks leading up to her delivery.

Morgan is the second mother on the Orlando Pride roster alongside Sydney Leroux, who missed most of the 2019 season due to the birth of her daughter, Roux. She will also be the second mother on the U.S. women’s national team, joining forward Jessica McDonald.
