The LA Galaxy will visit the Portland Timbers for a Round of 16 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match at Providence Park on Friday, June 15th at 8pm P.T.
The LA Galaxy defeated PDL side FC Golden State Force 3-1 Wednesday night in the Fourth Round of the tournament, with two goals from Ariel Lassiter and one from Bradford Jamieson IV.
The Portland Timbers defeated MLS side San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 Wednesday night at Providence Park. Goals by Jeremy Ebobisse and Dairon Asprilla propelled the Timbers into the next round.
This match will be the third time these two teams have met this year, the most recent being June 2nd in Portland. The teams played to a 1-1 draw, with goals from Chris Pontius for the Galaxy and Diego Valeri for the Timbers. The first match up this year was the LA Galaxy’s MLS season home opener, in which the Galaxy won 2-1.
