Toronto FC is the favorite to repeat as champion of Major League Soccer, according to odds makers.
Odds from Bovada.lv have the Reds listed as 3.5-to-1 favorites for defending their MLS Cup championship. That should come as no surprise considering Toronto led the league in wins (20) and points (69) last season to also claim the Supporters’ Shield. Having Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley and newcomer Victor Vazquez should keep Toronto locked in as a major force in the MLS this season.
Seattle – which has played Toronto in the MLS Cup the past two seasons, winning the championship in 2016 – and second-year side Atlanta United are the second choices of the odds makers at 8-to-1 odds.
The Portland Timbers at 9-to-1 and NYCFC at 10-to-1 round out the top five teams in the Bovada odds.
If you’re looking for long shots, four teams have been given 66-to-1 odds of winning the MLS: DC United, Minnesota United, New England Revolution and Philadelphia.
