The Whitecaps are a force at home
They may not have won the match, but the Whitecaps are now undefeated in 11 home games in a row. The 0-0 draw, in fact, sets a new record not just in Major League Soccer but at BC Place in general where the Whitecaps never managed to put a longer home record together dating back all the way back to the North American Soccer League days.
The Whitecaps are now back on the road where they face the Columbus Crew and Real Salt Lake before facing expansion franchise Los Angeles FC on April 13.
International break
“I don’t like it,” Carl Robinson said after being asked about Major League Soccer playing despite FIFA’s international break. “Spectators want to see the best player.”
The Vancouver Whitecaps head coach had a point. Vancouver were missing Kendall Waston, who would have been eligible after having his red card from last week rescinded, but was on international duty with Costa Rica. The Los Angeles Galaxy in the meantime were missing Mexican superstars Giovani and Jonathan dos Santos, as well as Norwegian national team player Ola Kamara. The match provided an interesting prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Major League Soccer will likely miss several star players as the league is not shutting down for the duration of the entire tournament.

No, Zlatan Ibrahimović did not feature tonight against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Instead, the jumbotron at BC Place showed actor Chris Hemsworth on the big screen. The actor is in town as Vancouver is currently celebrating the Junos — Canada’s equivalent of the Academy Awards.
On a global scale, Ibrahimović can certainly compete with the Australian actor regarding fame. But while Hemsworth is in town this weekend, Whitecaps fans will have to wait until next season to finally see Ibrahimović life in action as the Galaxy are not scheduled to return to BC Place this season.
