Just three days after the second installment of El Trafico, the Galaxy return home to the StubHub Center to take on Orlando City SC on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. PT. Here are a few things you need to know before the match.
- The LA Galaxy are 9-7-5 so far this season, and 5-4-1 at home, sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference with 32 points in 21 games played. Against Orlando, they are 1-2-0, with the last meeting being a 2-1 LA loss in Orlando after a game-winner from Cyle Larin.
- Orlando is currently 7-13-1 and 2-8-0 on the road, sitting in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 22 points in 21 games played.
- Orlando comes into the match losing 11 of its last 12 matches. Their last win came July 14th against Toronto FC at home. Orlando’s last road win was April 29th visiting the Colorado Rapids.
- In their descent, the Lions fired head coach Jason Kreis on June 15th and hired new head coach James O’Connor on June 29th. The team is 1-4 since O’Connor’s hiring.
- Galaxy midfielder Romain Alessandrini is suspended for this match due to yellow card accumulation. He has been in and out of the starting lineup for head coach Sigi Schmid, so he may need to work harder to reclaim this starting spot next week.
- Both Jorgen Skjelvik and Michael Ciani will be suspended after two more yellow cards.
- The Galaxy are currently on a eight-game undefeated streak, with their last loss May 30th against FC Dallas. In those eight games, LA is averaged 2.6 goals per game, but in the 13 games prior, they averaged just 1.4 goals per game.
- This is the third match in eight days for the Galaxy.
